Classon is currently the principal at Woodbury Elementary School, and will be replacing Dr. Lela Olson who recently resigned from the district.

“I am proud of the Woodbury Elementary students and community, and I am grateful for the time spent working with the staff and families that make Woodbury Elementary such an incredible school,” said Classon.

Classon has served in District 833 for the past 4 years as principal at Woodbury Elementary School. She began her career in education in 2004 as a substitute teacher at Valley Crossing Elementary School before taking a position as a classroom teacher in 2005. In 2011, she took on a leadership role at the school, serving as an Educational Coordinator/Teacher on Special Assignment (TOSA). Prior to education, Classon served as Communications Director at a local investment firm.

During her time at Valley Crossing Elementary School, Classon worked with multi-age programming and was trained in the Responsive Classroom approach.

“I am excited for the opportunity to return to the Valley Crossing community,” said Classon. “Valley Crossing helped prepare me for my role as Principal at Woodbury Elementary, and I look forward to bringing the experience I have gained over the past four years and enhancing our commitment to students and families as we continue to move forward together.”

Classon has a Bachelor of Arts in English from Gustavus Adolphus College, a master’s in teaching from the University of St. Thomas and received her principal licensure from St. Mary’s University. She is licensed as a K-12 principal, as well as in K-6 elementary education and 5-8 communication arts and literature.

“District 833 is fortunate to have Connha as part of the leadership team,” said Assistant Superintendent Julie Nielsen. “She is a strong instructional leader and passionate about student learning. We look forward to those continued efforts as she transitions to Valley Crossing Elementary School.”

The hiring of the new principal for Woodbury Elementary will occur in the next two weeks. The goal is for the new principal to be on board prior to the start of the school year.
