The month of May hosts many celebrations and recognitions.

Retired District Media Specialist Carla Larsen, continues to inspire SoWashCo readers during her retirement. 

Four group projects from Valley Crossing Elementary and Cottage Grove Middle were honored with awards amongst the nearly 1,400 entries.

We asked some of our students to tell us about a women in their life that inspires them most and here is what a few had to say.

SoWashCo Schools has donated more than 10,000 pounds of food to the local food shelf, Basic Needs, since the beginning of the school year. 

It’s all part of the Food Rescue Program, a partnership between SoWashCo Schools and Basic Needs.

On Thursday, Feb. 13, SoWashCo Schools hosted its first Indigenous Storytelling event.

Students in grades 3-8, 10 and 11 will participate in MCAs beginning April 1

SoWashCo Schools AVID and Kids Club students raised $5,000 to provide healthy snacks to students in need.

SoWashCo Schools has been awarded an Innovation in Service Learning Grant from the Minnesota Department of Education. With the support of the grant, Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID) and Kids Club will expand on their partnership, which began as an opportunity for AVID students to give back to their community and mentor younger students in the Kids Club program. 

AVID students and SoWashCo CARES are asking for your help to reach their goal of $5,000 to provide healthy snacks for students in need. 

Donations are being accepted through Friday, Dec. 20.
